A warm welcome from our Founder and CEO Jane Verity

I am delighted to introduce you to Dementia Care International and our life-changing approach to enriching the quality of care in dementia. Seeing the need for a different strategy to dementia, in 1993, our organisation was founded with the clear and unconventional purpose to humanise dementia care and bring forth the highest level of functioning for all people who have dementia. We are the independent organisation behind the Spark of Life Education, Rehabilitative Program, and Model of Care – all of which are best practice.

Our Spark of Life Education sensitively shifts attitudes and work practices to a heart-centred approach where staff can be emotionally connected with their residents, clients, or patients – the basis for preventing and solving behaviours of concern.

As a taste of our education, I invite you to view the below video on ‘Behaviour is in the Eye of the Beholder’, which is a Spark of Life Presentation originally delivered at the 2026 National Dementia Conference in Melbourne, Australia. As you will see, Power Point slides are used exclusively for their visual support and reinforcement – with the main education component always provided as a memorable and engaging experience. If you find the session useful, you are welcome to show this YouTube as part of your in-services.  We also welcome you to explore our range of other topics that includes 2 of the challenges all too often experienced in aged and dementia care: stressful showers and overt expressions of unmet sexual needs.

On behalf of Dementia Care International, I look forward to being of support to you and your health service be it in aged and dementia care, palliative care, disability, or mental health.

Warm regards
Jane Verity
