Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Dementias in Zambia (ADDIZ)

In this organisation, 25 volunteers support 950 older people and their families in 10 villages surrounding Nakonde.  Some of these villages are based as far away as 70 kilometres and can only be reached by motorcycle.

Anderson Simfukwe, Spark of Life Master Practitioner

Anderson gave up a full time job as a head teacher to pursue his passion for social justice for people with dementia.

Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Dementias in Zambia (ADDIZ) was founded by Anderson Simfukwe in 2016 and joined the ADI Membership Development Program the same year. The association is based in Nakonde, Zambia and is also represented in Ndola, Lusaka, Kapiri Mpishi, Kanchibiya, and Senga Districts.

Covid 19 national awareness meeting

The Spark of Life Philosophy has enabled Anderson and his volunteers to connect in new  ways with people who have dementia and their supportive partners with heart-warming results.
