4th International Conference of Creative Expression – Adelaide 2009
Jane Verity and Hilary Lee gave a Keynote presentation on the Spark of Life Philosophy at the 4th International Conference of Creative Expression, Communication and Dementia in Adelaide 2009. Hilary, who was Chair of the Society for the Arts in Dementia Care (Australia) at this time, played pivotal role in facilitating this groundbreaking conference in Australia. In addition, two Spark of Life Master Practitioners also presented their evaluation outcomes.

Asia Forum on Ageing – 2009
In 2009, Jane Verity was invited to present at the Asia Forum on Ageing in Singapore, as the international representative on dementia care to provide advice to the Ministry on Ageing.
Alzheimers Disease Conference – Singapore 2009
In 2009, Hilary Lee was invited to be a Plenary Speaker at the Alzheimer’s Disease International Conference in Singapore, sharing her research on the Spark of Life Club Program, as well as a combined presentation with Dr Al Power, breaking new ground in bringing awareness to the importance of reducing the use of anti-psychotic medications in dementia care. Hilary Lee and Dr Al Power also spoke with the medical teams in Changi Hospital on this important topic and were warmly received.

Excellence in Ageing Services Award – 2009
In July 2009, the Spark of Life Culture Enrichment Program received the international IAHSA Excellence in Ageing Services Award given in recognition of organisations that are models of innovation and excellence.
IAHSA (also known as the Global Ageing Network) is the International Association of Homes and Services for the Ageing, covering 30 member countries.

Congress of the World Federation of Occupational Therapists – 2007
In 2007, Hilary Lee had the honour of being selected to present at the 14th Congress of the World Federation of Occupational Therapists, WFOT 2006, in Sydney, Australia. She presented her early findings on her research ‘The Impact Of The Spark Of Life Program On The Personal And Emotional Wellbeing Of People With Dementia:Understanding Carer’s And Families Perceptions.’

Launch of Creative Expressive Abilities Assessment Tool – 2007
In 2007, at the Creative Expression, Communication and Dementia International Conference in Canada the Creative Expressive Abilities assessment tool was presented and launched by its developers Dr. Dalia Gottlieb Tanaka, Hilary Lee and Professor Peter Graf. See details in this 2008 Newsletter compiled by Hilary Lee for the Society for the Arts in Dementia Care (Australia) This tool is now presented by Hilary Lee at the Spark of Life International Master Leadership Program and used by Spark of Life Master Practitioners.
