Jane recently travelled to the beautiful country of New Zealand and presented in front of a variety of inspirational and enthusiastic aged care providers and carers.
Her first presentation at the 2008 HCPNZ national conference in Auckland discussed how the Spark of Life dissolves difficult behaviours and awakens dormant abilities. The diverse audience was full of questions about the Spark of Life Approach and many new connections and friendships were forged. Patricia Handon of Cunliffe House was the lucky conference winner of a How to Dissolve Difficult Behaviour educational program. Click here to view Jane’s presentation notes from this conference.
Jane then visited Paraparaumu, a small coastal town on the north island of New Zealand. Kapiti District Trust hosted a presentation on the Spark of Life Approach that attracted an audience of over 350 carers. The lucky winner from this presentation was Beryl Lupu from Elder Family Matters.
Carers across both islands found new inspiration in their roles and embraced the approach for its ability to rekindle the spark in people with dementia. The feedback from participants has been fantastic and we are sure to see the Spark of Life spread throughout New Zealand in the near future.
