Strathallan Lifecare, Timaru, NZ was awarded the Built and Grown Environment award at the 2016 National New Zealand Aged Care Conference.
Their revamped garden area within their specialised living environment won the award through their use of innovative, interactive features and alternative design. Created in conjunction with creative designer Design Squared Landscape Architects, this project worked with ideas and concepts shared by those living, working and visiting the facility.
The Spark of Life Philosphy is an integral component behind the success of the garden as heart-to-heart connections are made and those living at Strathallan have the opportunity to experience leadership and have their self-esteem boosted when inviting friends and family to visit.
The new garden is now a safe, bright and inviting environment that facilitates social interaction and meaningful activities that meet emotional needs, ignite the spirit and restore dormant abilities. This award-winning garden has already become a favourite place to share time together, admire the produce, relax and enjoy a drink or barbeque, or just a beautiful space to explore.
Congratulations to Spark of Life Master Practitioner Rose Blair and the whole team at Strathallan Lifecare NZ!
